We enjoy answering questions about what we do. In our business, there is a lot to know.
We don’t claim to know it all, but one thing we do know is that sharing our knowledge helps us and our clients work smarter. Throughout our history, TEK Productions has been involved in educating industry professionals on the technical side of live-event and media production.
TEK Tips is a resource for the event community. This resource is mostly limited to terms and guidelines for use in the media production and live-event environment.

Lectern
A pedestal stand with a slanted top, behind which a presenter can speak.
The lectern provides space onstage for a presenter’s notes, a microphone or a glass of water. A venue will often provide a lectern, usually with its logo on the front. A “podium surround” can be used to cover the lectern on the three sides visible to the audience. Another option is to use a lectern made of Lucite or one that matches the scenic elements.
Although "lectern" and "podium" are often used interchangeably, the podium is the actual raised platform, and the lectern is the stand itself. A good way to remember it: You stand behind a lectern, while you stand on a podium.
