We enjoy answering questions about what we do. In our business, there is a lot to know.
We don’t claim to know it all, but one thing we do know is that sharing our knowledge helps us and our clients work smarter. Throughout our history, TEK Productions has been involved in educating industry professionals on the technical side of live-event and media production.
TEK Tips is a resource for the event community. This resource is mostly limited to terms and guidelines for use in the media production and live-event environment.

Frequency
A specific channel assigned to each wireless microphone.
A wireless microphone has a built-in transmitter. The transmitter sends a signal on the assigned frequency to the receiver. When multiple wireless microphones are being used, it is critical that all frequencies be monitored and adjusted to ensure no two frequencies are being shared in the same room or other rooms in the facility. Often, when you request a wireless microphone, the supplier provides a combo kit, which has both a handheld and lavalier microphone and one receiver. Both microphones cannot be used at the same time with the receiver.
Cell phones/PDAs can cause frequency interference, creating an audible disturbance during a presentation. The cell phone’s frequency is interfering with the frequency of the presenter’s wireless microphone. For this reason, presenters should turn their cell phones/PDAs OFF.
