We enjoy answering questions about what we do. In our business, there is a lot to know.
We don’t claim to know it all, but one thing we do know is that sharing our knowledge helps us and our clients work smarter. Throughout our history, TEK Productions has been involved in educating industry professionals on the technical side of live-event and media production.
TEK Tips is a resource for the event community. This resource is mostly limited to terms and guidelines for use in the media production and live-event environment.

Mic Runner
The person who moves efficiently through the audience with a wireless handheld microphone during interactive sessions.
Mic runners generally position themselves close to the stage, facing the audience during a question and answer (Q&A) session. They scan the audience and make eye contact to encourage participation. When attendees raise their hands, the mic runners move quickly to them and raise their hands or paddles to signal the presenter onstage. When a mic runner is recognized, they ensure the attendees use proper mic technique.
For best results, mic runners should RUN or move as quickly as possible to deliver the mic to audience members. A slow mic runner can distract and ultimately discourage audience participation by disrupting the energy and flow of a lively Q&A session.
