Satellite Link
A method of transferring video over great distances using a satellite in space to relay data from a ground-based uplink station to a downlink station.
A satellite link is one of the best ways to bring live video of a remote guest or speaker to an event when the highest quality and lowest delay are desired. Setting up a link requires a satellite dish and specialized equipment at both ends, usually via a truck or video facility with uplink/downlink capabilities. Satellite links are only one-way, so usually, a telephone link is also set up between the two points, enabling the remote party to hear questions or comments from the event.
The satellite itself is usually called the bird by the technicians.
